The Furry Monkey

you are smart and curious....who is this...??

You are a seeker of knowledge, and you have learned many things in your life.
You are also a keeper of knowledge - meaning you don't spill secrets or spread gossip.
People sometimes think you're snobby or aloof, but you're just too deep in thought to pay attention to them.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

So who is this??? Well apparently it is me. For those of you who know me - is it correct? I'd be interested to see what you think1

the lady who does....coffee....!

Yep, that's me - any chance to have a coffee and I'm there. It wasn't that long ago that we all just drank instant or filtered only - now there are so many choices. It's my treat to have a coffee out and although I go for the 'skinny' version if I remember, it's always nice.

going to see nick, jo and george!

It’s been a while since we last saw Jo, Nick and little George.  As you all know there has been loads going on here and also when we were supposed to go and see them poor George had got chicken pox.  Now we’ve all had it, but with our immune systems not being the best in the world it was decided the best thing would be to stay away and go again when it was definitely gone.  The last thing we need is more problems as you can imagine!

Well it was now ‘All clear’ their household and we finally were OK to go.  Little George has grown a lot since we saw him, he was asleep when we got there and then when it was time to wake up he wasn’t sure about us!  We aren’t that bad are we?  No don’t answer that!

We had a couple of presents with us for him, and after Jo saying he didn’t get that excited at presents he decided to change his mind and had some fun with the paper.  It was a set of toys you play with in the bath, and had lots of attachments and bits that fixed on and made noises.  Jo has since emailed to say that he slept with the toy that night and had fun in the bath with it!  It’s great to know that someone really likes a present you give them isn’t it!  LOL!

He also has a big Mickey Mouse clock so when it’s time (no pun intended!) to learn the time he has a good start.  He’s such a sweet little fella and with Nick and Jo as Mum and Dad you know he’s going too grow up into a lovely young man.
Also Nick has a Landrover now, so of course the boys all went out to check it over and discuss “boys toys”.  George even has his seat fixed in the front and can reach the steering wheel with his foot!  Not that I think it’s a good idea to drive with your feet of course LOL!

George has found a great way of landscaping their front garden too.  In the road outside their house there is lots of gravel, so he picks up a handful or two each time and takes it back home.  I think it might take him a while but there’s a Alan Titchmarsh in the making there!

Thanks for the lovely bouquets of flowers you gave to both Mum and me. It's not often I get flowers and it was fantastic to have such a lovely bouquet - they are still out now - although the roses have gone, the lillies are still there! :-)

flowers to all our loved ones

I know it's a strange thing to put here, but we went to the Crematorium to take some flowers as we usually do. It was lovely there, we were almost the only ones and guess who came to see us?

A black cat, quite like Domi, although this one had a bite out of his ear. He was a lovely cuddly cat and followed us to the chapel and then sat under the tree until we came back out. How cute is that? Shame I didn't have any treats with me. I'm such a softy huh!

Anyway it was good to see that they've tidied it all up a a bit and made it more 'presentable' as it's been looking a bit shabby lately.

Lots of memories of family and friends - I know we think of them a lot, but this is a special time when we go specifically to take flowers for them all. It's sad when you see some vases with names on and no flowers in it....

It was a busy day today as we took some of my handcrafted cards to Marie Curie too - the lady said "Wow, someone has been busy" and I said "Yes, me!". She said they were gorgeous cards and would have no problem selling them - in fact whilst I was there a lady started looking through them and took some out which was brilliant to see! At least you know they are doing some good to help others.

Although the 'Create A Card for Marie Curie' closes at the end of April the lady said she'd always take cards from me - specially as they're as gorgeous as they are - she will always sell them which is nice. If it helps others, then that's fine with me.

Now if anyone knows where I can get some cheap Promarkers or even better some copics then let me know!! LOL!

Thanks to Di and also another lady called Pat from a forum I belong to, I had a lovely big batch of cards to take with me to the hospice. It all helps and some of them need as much help as possible as there is no government funding available.

dinner at auntie rita's

Auntie Rita invited us all to dinner at her house and it was a brilliant dinner enjoyed by all...! Even Mum said "I don't remember the last time Karen ate dinner like that" so it must've been good!

I was talking to Missy (the cockatiel) - you know me, I speak to all animals and birds!

it's me, the cause of global warming....

Well it is according to Mum!!! I'm the only one to sort out the cats litter boxes and I use one bag every two/three days to put it in. However apaprently I am using too many of them! Usually it's the paperbag the litter comes in so no extras are used. I buy all the bags used for the boxes too so it's not as though it's someone else paying for it is it???

Just had to get that off my chest.... so now you know - the whole worlds problems are my fault!

Who else would be to blame but me huh?!?!?!?

GP SURGERY (NOT FOR ME!)

This time it was for Mum.  She’s had high BP and also her diabetes has got higher since her blood clots on the lung in 2007.  It’s probably also not helped that she eats chocolate, but that’s her choice.  Anyway the Doc has tried a few different drugs to see if it helps, some made other things a LOT worse and they were stopped very quickly I can tell you!

Anyway the other problem Mum has lately is her knee.  It has slowly been getting worse and she is in pain (going by the moans when walking and going up stairs).  You can see her knee is swollen and she has tried painkillers but I don’t think she gave them a fair trial but she doesn’t take them anymore saying they don’t work.  Surely it takes the edge off the pain though.  As someone who has painkillers every day I know it doesn’t take the pain away totally but it does help make it a bit easier.  I know if I don’t take mine (memory again!) then I severely suffer for it.

He said it’s going to be up to the Consultant really, she might be offered a ‘wash out’ (Arthroscopy) or painkillers or a knee replacement.  It all depends on how bad it is.  The x-ray doesn’t look good he said and it’s basically b******d!!!  He does straight talking does our GP!  He’s the best type if you ask me!  Always honest and to the point and explains it in a way you understand.

So he said he’d refer her to the Consultant and, looking at me, said “Do you know about Choose and Book?”.

“Oh yes” said I “I know”.

“Not really” said Mum. So he explained and said it could be done on the internet.  Again this came back to me.  I don’t know, do they think I’m some sort of geek or something?  Again don’t answer that!

ASHFORD HOSPITAL (ORTHOPAEDICS DEPT) – not me but Mum!

John had taken some time off work to go with us to the hospital for Mum’s appointment with the Consultant.  John, as you know, has already had a TKR (Total Knee Replacement) at 36 yrs old so knows what it’s all about and entails.

The Consultant had the x-ray on the screen and even I could see where the arthritis was and his only comment was “Well it’s knackered”.  You can either live on painkillers or have it done, the choice is yours.

Mum asked John and he said “It’s up to you” and then she asked me and got the same reply.  All we could say was if it was us, we’d have it done.  Surely to get rid of any pain is good.  We all know pain only too well so to get rid of some of it would be lovely!

So she has now decided to have it done.  I asked about the waiting times, as they can be quite long so we’ve heard from other people.  However the Consultant (a nice guy who explained things when asked) said they have to do it within 18 weeks!  Amazing, I didn’t realise it was that short a timescale. Not bad huh.

GP SURGERY (ME THIS TIME!)

Again it was a check on my BP.  It’s still high but going down.  Also there are other things we discussed but some things I can’t really share with you.  It’s nothing to panic about so don’t worry though.

I mentioned about the pains in my mouth and I’ve been to the Dentist but it didn’t solve it.  He said if it doesn’t go then to return as he could arrange a sinus x-ray for me.  Of course I also have the option of going to UCH after the Registrar mentioned about Lymphoma.  I’m going to use this as a last resort though as you can imagine.
